A/C components and complete A/C systems in automotive applications require leak testing to prevent loss of refrigerant that will limit the life and performance of the system as well as potential harm the environment.
Multiple test methods and equipment are used to leak test these components and systems. Smaller components are often tested using the helium vacuum method, whereas complete systems are typically leak tested using sniffing methods.
Select a product category below for more details.
Multi-Gas Sniffing (MS): A manual method of sniffing a pressurized part using a variety of instruments specifically designed for non-helium tracer gases such as refrigerants, hydrogen and SF6.
Helium Vacuum (HV): An automated method where the test part or test fixture is evacuated to full vacuum while helium is introduced to the opposite barrier of the part.
Helium Sniffing (HS): A manual method of sniffing a pressurized part to detect helium escaping a leak.
Multi-Gas Vacuum (MV): An automated method using a tunable mass spectrometer where the part or test fixture is evacuated to full vacuum while the desired non-helium tracer gas is introduced to the opposite barrier of the part.
