HATS™ Leak Test TechnologyLACO has developed an innovative production leak test method with both reliable and quantifiable results. This method is similar to the traditional helium accumulation method except our unique HATS™ helium sensing method is used to gain more sensitivity and much faster test times.
HATS™ = Hybrid Accumulation Test System. HATS™ is a patented (U.S. Pat. No. 7,905,132) helium leak test method for production leak testing which uses a permeable membrane to direct the leak to the mass spec while protecting it from contaminants.

How it worksThe HATS™ leak test assembly design incorporates a helium permeable membrane that is part of, or attached to, the leak test fixture or test chamber. This membrane directs helium leaking from the test part into a helium mass spectrometer leak detector. Because the membrane is in-situ to the leak test fixture, the leaking helium travels quickly to the mass spectrometer for detection.
HATS™ is an ideal leak testing technology for applications that require leak measurement sensitivity between pressure decay and traditional helium hard vacuum methods, where the product is highly contaminated or cannot be exposed to high vacuum. Example applications include:
