High Voltage Switchgear

Our customer was leak testing high voltage switch gear using a manual handheld sniffer leak detector to identify any leaks during final inspection. Not only was this process time-consuming but most of the value of the product was added by the time the testing was completed. LACO designed two efficient helium leak testing systems which allowed the customer to test the product at the beginning of the production process before value was added.

Key Features

• An ASME test replaced a hydro-static test method so no water was introduced to the product. The customer was therefore able to pump down the final product quicker.
• Quality of supplier product improved due to leak testing of incoming tanks.
• For very large tanks, lower equipment cost was accomplished by using an accumulation technique which eliminated the higher cost usually associated with large vacuum chambers.
• Improved product quality by replacing sniffer leak testing.
