ULTRASONIC LEAK TEST METHOD
Ultrasonic Technology is used in a variety of industries for detecting defects. In production leak testing this technology can be used to identify product defects such as cracks, porosity, pin-holes, and gaps that would create a leak. LACO has developed proprietary leak testing methods utilizing this technology.
This method is best used on products that are not sealed, but "open", such as a plastic molded bucket or a rubber molded bellows or boot. In this method, ultrasonic energy is created from within the test part and an ultrasonic detector is placed on the opposite boundary. The ultrasonic energy will transmit through defects and be detected by the sensor. This method has the capability to detect leaks in the range of 1 sccm and larger depending on the test part design.
